The Lockhart Economic Development Corporation works collaboratively with other departments in the City of Lockhart, the Lockhart Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber as well as with many regional economic development organizations, business organizations, and financial institutions. The Economic Development Corporation is a resource for businesses not only through its own programs and staff, but also through a network of individuals and organizations.

Five County Initiative for Job Creation in Central Texas 

Opportunity Austin was a five-year, five-county economic development initiative aimed at fostering job-creating investment in Central Texas. Launched in 2004, this regional strategy aimed to create 72,000 regional jobs and increase regional payroll by $2.9 billion. To implement the strategy, the regional business community committed to invest $14.4 million.

Opportunity Austin has registered solid success. Regional employment growth has surpassed even the most optimistic scenarios. 

Greater San Marcos Partnership

Economic Growth in Hays and Caldwell Counties, Texas 

The Greater San Marcos Region is ideally located on the IH-35 corridor just 30 miles south of Austin and 40 miles north of San Antonio, two of the fastest growing MSAs in the United States and the fastest growing region in Texas. The Greater San Marcos Region represents the lower half of the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos MSA, which includes all of Hays and Caldwell Counties. The cities of Buda, Kyle, Dripping Springs, San Marcos, Wimberley, Lockhart and Luling are within the two county jurisdiction.
