Lockhart, TX – Former Lockhart Economic Development Director, Mike Kamerlander, will be temporarily rejoining the City of Lockhart Staff on a full-time, contract basis starting November 28, 2022. He served as LEDC Director from June 2019 through September 2022, prior to joining the City of San Antonio as its Assistant Director of Economic Development.
“I am looking forward to picking up where I left off and continuing Lockhart’s economic development success,” Kamerlander said. “Lockhart continues to be a prime location for new business opportunities while maintaining a strong sense community and I cannot wait to continue being a part of that.”
In his tenure at the LEDC, Kamerlander led the efforts to develop the EDC’s first target industry/five-year strategic plan, 130 Industrial Park development, recruitment of McElroy Metal, the Ziegenfelder Company, and Iron Ox. Other notable accomplishments include a $1.6 million grant from the federal Economic Development Administration and the local BIG grant downtown program.
Upon rejoining the LEDC, Kamerlander will assist the City in pursuing and continuing economic development projects. He will also provide input to the selection of an Economic Development Specialist, which is currently vacant. The search for the LEDC’s new Director will also continue.
“I’m pleased Mike Kamerlander will be rejoining the Lockhart team,” said Lockhart City Manager and LEDC President, Steve Lewis. “His economic development expertise proved impactful to the Lockhart community and his assistance in completing some pending projects will be very beneficial with more on the horizon.”
Kamerlander will assume this interim role for three months.
