All Things Mega - Ideal Large-Scale Manufacturers

The "All Things Mega" target family is focuses on the megasite in Caldwell County. As part of the Austin metro, Lockhart is centrally located for regional and national markets and has access to a labor pool consisting of nearly 60,000 talented manufacturing employees within a 45-minute drive time, along with some of the most competitive wages in the region. 

Tesla, Inc. Lands in Austin

The state of Texas is now officially home to the new Tesla vehicle assembly plant where the renowned and highly innovative company will build its Cybertruck, Semi Truck, and Model Y. The 2,000+ acre site is located near the Austin International Airport, approximately 30 minutes north of Lockhart. With it, this new plant brings an evolution in the supply chain, with tier 2 and 3 auto parts suppliers looking to locate in the areas surrounding the plant. Lockhart is a prime choice with our proximity to Austin and major transportation outlets, as well as available industrial sites highly suitable for the construction of new manufacturing facilities. 

Food Processing

Across the nation, the demand for healthy, fresh, organic, local and ready-to-eat alternatives has steadily increased. This demand has fueled the growth of the food and beverage processing industry, with breweries, wineries and distilleries showing the strongest growth. With our ample water supply, proximity to regional and national markets, as well as easy access to agricultural products, it’s no surprise that businesses like Hill Country Foodworks have found success here in Lockhart. 

Industry 4.0 - Auto Parts, metal & Electronic Manufacturing

The Industry 4.0 target family brings together manufacturing-oriented sectors that build on the assets of Lockhart. This target includes Auto Parts, metalworking, Computer, and Electronic Manufacturing. Caldwell County has nearly 600 people employed in manufacturing, with an industry average wage of $54,000 as of 2022. The number of production workers who live in Caldwell County is almost 1,500 while only 500 production jobs are located in the county leaving a net loss of at least 959 workers leaving the county.

Experience Lockhart

"Experiential" has become a popular term for retail, hospitality, and tourism industries and is focused on people placing as much value on the experience as the actual service or good. Lockhart's current downtown renaissance is prime for being a major focus for this effort.
